Retro vibes flow from Lexx’s latest track, an instant R&B classic dropped through the Phantom Island label. From the opening notes, the panning flies from left to right through a crunchy synth played by producer and arranger Alex Storrer, before Asé’s delicate vocals subtly and nimbly float through the melodies above. Mellotron textures add a further classic vibe that teleports the listener back to the Golden Age of R&B. ‘Eyes 1-2’ is an exciting release taken from the Cosmic Shift album, which is due for release on June 22 and is sure to be full of equally fresh sounds. -Dan Peeke
